We're Done! (Sort of)
So if there is anybody still reading this blog, you probably thought we dropped off the face of the planet or the house burned down or something. But the fact of the matter is we've been busy sprinting to the end and we moved into the house on March 3. This date was significant as March 4 is Julie's Birthday and I wanted her to wake up in her new house. So I became a construction tyrant the last few weeks to get things done.
Anyway, this will be a long posting with lots of photos of the last stages of construction. We're still doing landscaping, putting in the pool, etc. so this will not be the very last post but close to it.
I'll attempt to put these in something close to chronological order ...
Ready to start painting
Office being painted
Family Room being painted
Kitchen being painted
Nook
Here you can see the based color and trim together for the first time.

Painting complete.

Nook
Family Room

Dining Room. Note that a faux finish / glaze is being added later so this not really totally done.

Kid Bedroom

Barstools stained the same color as cabinets
Theater. The paint is actually darker than it looks here. I guess the flash was too bright.

Cultured marble. This is Randy's vanity. Bet you can guess that Julie's vanity is at least 3x larger. :)

Nook Tile. This is the tile in the kitchen, nook, hallways, etc. downstairs

And the geekiness begins ... we installed all the automated light switches ourselves

Geeks in training. There is a sad story behind this picture. When we pulled all the wire for the home automation stuff, we religiously labeled each end of every cable with a # and wrote it down in a notebook so we'd know what went where. Guess what notebook got lost somewhere along the way? So this was the first of many cable sorting / toning parties we've had as a family.
We also got the rest of the Icynene foam insulation shot in the attic. These photos show the real advantage. All the ductwork, furnaces, hot water heaters, etc. are essentially in conditioned space (or at least not sweltering hot attic like is normal in Texas).
Because we set the house so far back from the road, we have a really big driveway.

Finally something interesting. Starting the pool.

That's one big hole in the ground.

Pool from upstairs

Had to take a shot of one of our beautiful Texas sunsets while I was up there

Rebar is next

I'd hate to clean that! But it looks beautiful.
